  • CP is a congenital disorder of movement, muscle tone, or posture.

  • CP is caused by damage or abnormal brain development, often before birth.

  • CP has many symptoms from a range of muscular to developmental to speech. Some symptoms can include exaggerated reflexes, floppy or rigid limbs, and involuntary motions. These symptoms appear by early childhood.

  • CP effects a person’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture.

  • Treatment depends on severity. Long-term treatment includes physical and other therapies, drugs, and sometimes surgery. Physical exercise and special education can be self care. Therapies can include occupational therapy, stretching, and physical therapy. Medications are, muscle relaxant and sedative. Lastly, surgery is an option by getting gastrostomy.
